Soon after finishing graduate school at the Savannah College of Art and Design, my professional career as an image maker began. I didn’t intentionally seek out marketing and advertising, instead it found me. October 1st 2007 kicked off a 10+ year run of images that centered solely around the automotive industry. The opportunity to work with top tier clients Toyota, Lexus, and Kia Motors provided valuable insights and experience in creating images and animation specifically suited to sell a product. Much of the work focused on automotive interiors which grew into a passion to light, texture, and render a variety of surfaces and materials within a confined and challenging space.
In 2017 life took a different turn. Fatigued by life in LA I took an opportunity with Gulfstream Aerospace. While the life change and move back to Savannah was significant the required deliverables were quite similar to the work I’d been doing. I essentially traded automotive interiors for aircraft interiors. My time at Gulfstream also gave me the chance to step out from behind the monitor and interact directly with the customers purchasing the aircraft. The experience I gained was a welcomed addition to my skill set and helped to round out my abilities as both an artist and a personable presenter. Being able to listen and speak with people, while exhibiting an understanding of the client message or motivation always creates confidence in the process and makes the work I deliver better.
While working for a large corporation like Gulfstream certainly had many positives and I am grateful for my time there, I began to desire an opportunity that took me back into a marketing atmosphere. I felt compelled to be part of something that allowed my skills and abilities to make a larger tangible impact on a company and the world.
In May of 2022 I was fortunate enough to be chosen to work with a small group of amazing marketing professionals at an aerospace startup, Boom Supersonic…
